Buses
Buses in Jordan go everywhere but can be quite tricky for someone visiting. If you're looking for comfort, you can always take a JETT buses (blue) – air conditioned, bathroom facilities, and even meals on board. You can easily book your trip from any local JETT office that can be reached by going to the Abdali area or simply by calling the office. A typical JETT fare ranges from 4 Jordanian Dinars to 10 depending on your destination. JETT buses are known for their punctuality and regular bus stops. You can obtain a map of their routes from the main office, not to mention, they can easily guide you to the many attractions in that area. A conductor will check your ticket once you're on board, so make sure to keep it with you.

If you're looking for a more economic option, you might want to try the minibuses used by the locals (white and green) to get everywhere, the fare usually ranges from 0.4 JD to around 2 JD depending on your destination. The disadvantages of minibuses are: the schedule, since drivers are not very punctual, routes are written on buses in Arabic, and the interior is quite shabby due to the common usage. No tickets are given, you pay directly to the conductor once on board. Pick pocketing is very common on minibuses, so make sure you stay safe.

Taxis
Taxis in Jordan (yellow) can take you anywhere. The key is to negotiate a price and spot before getting in, and also make sure to ask the Taxi driver if he's relying on the meter. If he tells you its broken, just walk away. A normal taxi fare should range from 2 JD to 10 JD around Amman . Short trips from 5 to 20 minutes shouldn't cost more than 5 JD.

Rental Cars
Rental cars are perfect for visitors planning to conduct several trips throughout the day, however; it depends on your schedule. Given the high petrol rates, you might end up paying more than you planned. A typical car can be pumped full at the rate of 20 JD and an SUV at around 50 JD. Car rental offices are available in the airport, next to the JETT, and virtually everywhere. A typical rental fee depends on the time you'll be using it, and your bargaining skills. The fee would range from 20 JD to 50 JD per day, and you can always bargain for a special price package by proposing a multi-day contract.
